Sassquatch

Sassquatch is the name of one of fourteen teams from Ontario heading to the 2022 Canadian National Dodgeball Championships. The team consists of members who all identify as LGBTQIA+ and train together with the Downtown Dodgeball club in Toronto which focuses on the development of LGBTQIA+ athletes.

“Sports can be intimidating for queer folks since it is predominantly played by straight people,” said Jonas Gallardo. “Finding these safe and accepting spaces can be very difficult so to be able to compete with other teams on a national level with an all-queer team definitely shows our hard work and our stand to represent for the LGBTQIA+ community.”
