Dodging for Dimes

On October 1, 2016 myself, Jen Ritchie and 6 other members of Team Canada volunteered our time at the Dodging for Dimescharity tournament. It was such a special experience for us to give back and engage with the community. The day started off with a special address from Linda Yielding (Manager, Special Events & Fundraising) giving us a reminder of why we were there. Susan Cavanagh attended the tournament and shared her personal testimony of how our support and funds raised through this event had made a difference in her life.

You can read her personal testimony here: http://www.marchofdimes.ca/EN/Pages/default.aspx

The Team Canada athletes were drafted to the competing corporate teams where they coached and played. They ran skills training for the first portion, played in the tournament and gave a short 5 minute demonstration of high competitive play.

The tournament was so much fun and everyone genuinely had a wonderful attitude. It was so much fun. March of Dimes Canada presented Dodgeball Canada with a plaque of appreciation!!! Our first plaque!!!

I’d like to personally recognize the individuals who volunteered their time and hearts to represent Dodgeball Canada in such a good light. They took the time out of their busy schedules to pay it forward. I am a firm believer that the people chosen to represent us on National level need to be good people first, great athletes second. The members of Dodgeball Canada are the advocates of the sport that we love so much.

A special Thank You to: Jen Ritchie, Jason Mergler, Matthew Silveira, Jessica O'quinn, Joshua Kiyoshi Huestis, Shauna Roe & Jonah TC for coming out this past weekend.

From my heart to yours,

Bethel Lascano PROGRAMS DIRECTOR DODGEBALL CANADA
