Canada has a long colonial and oppressive history with Indigenous Peoples. As we continue our journey of reconciliation, let us use Canada Day as a platform to stand and take action in solidarity with our Indigenous neighbours. To do this, re-imagine your celebratory budget. Take a second and think about how much money you’d spend on a typical Canada Day. Re-imagine your fireworks budget, food, decorations, drinks or other party supplies. There are many Indigenous charities and organizations that will use your money to directly support Indigenous communities.
